Road accidents that concerned heavy-duty trucks have become more frequent in recent years. We do not make reference to heavy-duty trucks as those little pick-up trucks but those scary 18-wheelers. Though the reasons for these accidents vary, the majority is the fault of the driver of these enormous trucks. The irony is that despite triggering all these accidents, the truck driver never gets hurt because the huge trucks protect them from any harm.
A serious collision involving a truck typically involves several small cars, injuries and probably death. If you wouldn’t like to be caught in this type of circumstance, you may need to go back to driving school. You may already have thought that repair wheels is a vast field with much to find out. The unfortunate part is, in truck driving school, they are only shown how to drive fast, and completely disregard the concept of safe driving. You must make an attempt to study defensive driving on your own.
A good number of people believe that driving a large scale truck is not any different than driving a sedan. Although the driving basics and the traffic rules are comparable, we are talking about two different vehicles. Typical cars are just less difficult to drive because you have better management and requires less focus. The difference is obvious when you try to imagine parking your vehicle and then visualize parking a big 18 wheeler.
A great chunk of incidents are caused by truckers falling asleep at the wheel. Even though the transport companies are obliged to give reasonable transport times, (the company must allow 3 days for a 1500 kilometers transport in some countries), the drivers rather stay at their homes for one or two days, and then they would try to catch up in the last day. Twenty four hours of driving a truck is not so painless even for the most skilled driver, and it requires coffee, energizers and other methods to stay awake.
Some major transport companies have set up GPS in the trucks to avoid these severe accidents. By doing this, the driver is required to drive only for 8 hours, he can’t break the speed limit, and he will have to adhere to the rules of the road. Although the upfront cost is steep, it will be of special benefit in the long term. First, plenty of money can be saved from repairing a damaged truck. Second, your associates and buyers will gain trust in your services, knowing that their goods are watched and followed every second. the price with insurances will be reduced, as an insurance company would have to take fewer risks if your trucks have GPS installed. In fact, many insurance companies will propose a unique deal with special advanced services for all your trucks.
There are some drivers who would certainly rather get the truck driver’s license rather than a regular car license. While this is certainly somewhat unusual, it can happen. It is better to go for a normal driver’s license, afterward move your way up to a truck driver’s license. That way you possess a strong concept of the fundamentals which will help you become a safe truck driver.
